Kate Elmitt

Pianoforte

Kate Elmitt studied at The Royal Academy of Music from the age of 12 and broadcast on BBC’s Children’s Hour. At 14 she gained the Performers LRAM and while studying with Madeleine Windsor and then Harold Craxton went on to win the Henderson Scholarship and numerous prizes. At 20, the Tobias Matthay Fellowship enabled her to study briefly with Michelangeli in Arrezo, where she was selected to play on Italian Radio, and for three years with Bruno Seidlhofer in Vienna, where she passed the final examination with the highest mark possible, and became known as a radio and TV artist. Since her return to this country, in addition to teaching and adjudication commitments, Kate performed as part of the Elmitt/Railton Duo on TV and Radio, all over England, the Far East and Australia, and as soloist with orchestras, recitalist, lecture–recitalist, accompanist, and as a member of many chamber music ensembles.
