David Meacock studied piano with Iris du Pré (mother of the famous ’cellist), Eric Hope (a pupil of Solomon) and Kendall Taylor at the Royal College of Music. In 1990 David completed a Masters Degree at Reading University. He formed the (now fully professional) A40 Concert Orchestra and, in 1995, the A40 Choir which has broadcast on Classic FM, as well as appearing in Rouen Cathedral and in the Queen Elizabeth Hall. His reduced orchestrations of the Verdi Requiem and Elgar’s Dream of Gerontius have had performances throughout the UK. David’s debut piano recital in St John’s Smith Square included the Liszt Sonata and he recently performed three concertos (the Grieg, Liszt in E flat and Rachmaninoff No. 2) in a single concert.
