Nicki Reynolds took up the oboe aged 13, studying with Philip Cull, and piano aged 12, studying with Thomas Dodd, both at St George's C of E School in Gravesend, Kent – so she was a bit of a late starter! Having completed all the Associated Board exams in both instruments while at school, she went on to study music at Reading University with the aim of becoming a school music teacher; before having a change of heart and becoming a tax adviser! Following university Nicki specialised in singing, performing frequently with Medici Chamber Choir in Kent and then London, as well as a spell with London Symphony Chorus, performing in several of the London concert halls. After a ten-year break, in 2003 Nicki went back to playing the oboe and now performs with Hitchin Symphony Orchestra plus Luton Symphony and Concert Orchestras, Ampthill Concert Orchestra, the Twinwood Festival Orchestra and the de Havilland Philharmonic Orchestra in Hatfield. Nicki has also enjoyed the lighter side of music in performing arts, taking part in several musicals to include Show Boat, Chicago, I Wish It Were Yesterday, and a leading role in a Canadian musical, Sex Tips for Modern Girls.
