Peter Bussereau was awarded the silver medal at the Guildhall School of Music for gaining the highest marks for his diploma recital while also studying for a Mathematics degree at Royal Holloway College, University of London, where he performed his last concert as a student of the latter by performing the Brahms Violin Concerto.

After graduating from the University of London he took up a position with Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra and subsequently moved to the BBC Concert Orchestra, where he was a Principal Violinist. He also continued his violin studies with such distinguished teachers as Hugh Bean, Emanuel Hurwitz and Remus Azoitei.

Peter has enjoyed freelancing with orchestras such as the City of London Sinfonia, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and the BBC Symphony Orchestra as well as establishing a series of chamber music concerts with his ensemble Symphonia Academica. Peter also very much enjoys performing as a soloist with orchestras in repertoire ranging from the baroque concerti of Vivaldi and Bach, through the concerti of Mozart, Mendelssohn, Brahms and Tchaikovsky, to works of the twentieth century by Elgar and Finzi.

In September 2007 Peter was awarded an Honorary Master of Arts degree from the University of Bedfordshire (the first degree awarded by this new university) for his services to music in Bedfordshire. Outside of music Peter has a busy family life and is very much enjoying studying with the Open University for a degree in Physics. (May 2026)
